This is a natural curved birch cane that has been finished in an antique Valentine Company honey maple stain. Instead of just peeling the bark I "scalloped" the entire cane with a drawknife to give it the classic hand-hewn finish. It was then stained, coated with polyurethane and lightly sanded to mimic wear before it was coated with polyurethane a second time. It stands 35-3/4" tall with the included rubber tip and it ranges from 1" to 1-1/4" in diameter. The curve is a little open but resting on the top of it feels fine. It is slightly curved in a few directions that seem to favor a right-handed individual. Being hardwood it is strong enough for most all individuals.(fc34)
