This is a maple burl bowl with a live edge on the rim. It is on the smaller side being 3-5/8" tall and 6-1/4" in diameter. The inside is 2-5/8" deep. Even though maple is typically a lighter color wood this burl was relatively dark. It appears different hues in different lighting. No stain was used only two coats of clear oil based polyurethane. The phenomenal character of this bowl is the tiger stripes of grain throughout the entire burl . It is probably one of the more dramatic burls that I've turned.
