Adirondack Black Cherry burl bowl with lid

This is a burl bowl with a lid. It is hand turned from a Black Cherry burl and it has been finished with two coats of oil based polyurethane. The burl grew around much of the main trunk and you can see the annual rings to one side in the bottom. The main trunk did have a heart check that was sealed with epoxy for stability and to hold dry goods. With the top in place it holds roughly 3 dry measure cups. It is well suited for wrapped candies, cotton balls, powder and the like. It would make a beautiful pet urn as well. It is 7-1/2" tall, 6" in diameter and the bowl is 3-7/16" deep on the inside. The base is approximately 5" in diameter. The top was turned first and cut off to facilitate turning the bowl from the same burl. The top wasn't turned separately hence it is solid on the bottom.
