Here is another odd and unique Red Maple wizard staff. It stands 71-1/4" tall and weighs just shy of three pounds. It has a raised ridge on the shaft from an old wound, as well as a bent head with an elbow. The shaft also shows a scar that is probably a little newer than the other ones, so it definitely had a hard life. The shaft on this one varies in diameter from a small inch up to 1-3/4" . You don't have to feel guilty about killing a tree by choosing any of these staffs. They are all overcrowded and injured. If a sapling like this was given room and sunlight to grow it would still be compromised from the shape and the old wounds, so it would be the first to fall from heavy snow, ice or wind. Like my other unfinished staffs, this was harvested and the bark was stripped off with a drawknife which leaves a hand-hewn appearance. It is a raw material to start with. (ufws400)
