This is a maple root staff with a lot of the cool characteristics of a tortured life. It was rubbed and chewed on by different critters for years and it scarred over and grew in spite. There are still teeth marks on one of the patches of dead wood. This staff stands 71" tall and it varies in diameter from 1-1/2" up to 2-1/2". It has a neat pronounced ridge lower on the shaft from undoubtedly another traumatic experience. It has a nice root array that barely fits in an 8" square-girth box, and the roots create an open platform that might be suitable to mount a skull or similar artifact. This is a raw material. It was harvested and the bark was stripped with a drawknife, nothing else has been done to it. (ufws388)
