Here is another simple but elegant Balsam Fir staff. Being a softwood it will weigh a lot less, it's easier to tool and it takes stain more readily. This one stands 71-1/2" tall and the straight staff varies in diameter from 1" up to 2". It weighs 2#2ozs, which makes it easier to carry all day long. Like most of my other root staffs this one was dug up and the bark was stripped with a drawknife to give it the hand hewn appeal. Nothing else has been done to it, it is mere a raw material for you to start with. (ufws386)
