This might be my coolest find yet. It is a Balsam Fir root staff that has an all-natural curve, and I left the bark cap on the "nub" to show how it healed and grew. The bark cap even has some dead moss on it. I essentially immortalized this one by harvesting it when I did because it was next to dead. There were only a few small branches with scattered needles because the overstory was choking out the sunlight. Even though it was next to dead it is still structurally sound...and gorgeous. It stands 71-1/4" tall (nearly 6 feet) and the shaft varies in diameter from 1-1/2" to 2". Currently it weighs 3#3ozs. Being softwood it'll take stain nice and dark, and a wood-burning pen would work well. This is a raw material. All I did was dig it up and strip the bark with a drawknife, hence there are subtle flats, facets and digs all over. This is a natural, unique shape for you to customize. (ufws380)
