Here is a Balsam Fir root staff. If you have to carry it around at an event for a long time a softwood staff like this might be smart. This one weighs in at only 1#14oz and it stands 71-1/2" tall. The shaft on this one varies in diameter from 1-1/4" up to 1-3/4". It has a full array of elegant, curved roots and it has a few flat spots from stripping the bark with a drawknife. These things are sticky when I peel them, but once the bark is off there is no pitch on the surface. Softwood accepts stain well and will go real dark if that's your aim. Like most of the others this is a raw material. (ufws361)
