Here is a real heavy Birch root staff with a large root ball and sharp root nodes. This one is thick, curved and currently weighs 5#12ozs. It is formidable. The roots are thick and the root ball is just a solid chunk with odd voids and sharp spires. It stands 71" tall and the curved shaft varies in diameter from 1-1/2" up to 2". This one came from a wet location so the bark stripped without leaving any tooling marks short of the roots being truncated with a drawknife. Please note this is heavy and the shaft is a long slow curve, it is not straight. It is a thick specimen so it will require some time to dry enough to apply a finish. It is definitely unique.
