Here is a THICK Balsam Fir root staff. It stands 71" tall and has a robust diameter of 1-5/8" up to 2". The shaft has long splits in it that radiate outward from the heart, and this is typical of any dry wood round that has the pith in it. Like most of my staffs the bark was stripped off with a drawknife, so it has the subtle digs and facets that add to the handmade, rustic charm. This one weighs in at 3#3ozs and it is an unfinished raw material. (ufws344)
