Here is a Birch root staff that's ready for someone to customize. It stands 70-3/8" tall and it varies in diameter from 1" to 1-3/4". Like most of my unfinished staffs the bark was stripped with a drawknife, so it has subtle facets, nicks and digs from the blade. This one has an old scar on it with and old ant hole visible. I look for imperfect saplings when I choose my staffs, most of them are doomed do to overcrowding or injuries from animals, insects or both. Thinning the herd makes a healthier forest, and the imperfections make for creepier staffs.(ufws342)
