Here is a gorgeous Yellow Birch burl charcuterie board with routed in handles. It is large and hefty, alone it weighs12#4.6 ozs. It has been finished wth Enviro-tex epoxy by MAS. It was then finely sanded and rubbed with the countertop beeswax/mineral oil finish you would use on a wood butcher block. This gives it a deep matt luster so you can appreciate the exquisite grain rather than just a reflection. As you can see most of the edge is original (live-edged) except where it was sliced off the log. The bottom is full of convolutions and fissures just as it was on the tree. At the largest dimensions it is nearly 18" x 14", and it is a full 2-3/16" thick. The routed-in handles have fingertip grooves so it's quite easy to carry. At this weight it isn't going to tip over. I should note this is not a cutting board, epoxy is hard but it is not meant to be used as a cutting, only as a presentation surface for the next gathering.
