Here is a knock-down staff (with hardware included) that will ship for less in a 36" x 8" x 8" box. When assembled it stands a shy 5'-5 tall. It is a cherry specimen and all of the roots are swept back as if it was running real fast. The shaft on this one varies in diameter from 1-1/4" up to 1-3/4" and it weighs 3#9ozs. Like most wood "rounds" that have the pith in the middle it is prone to develop some drying splits that run to the pith (aka heart checks). When they mill lumber the middle of the log is often made into a square cant and these will also develop the tell-tale splits to the middle. Black cherry typically splits more as it dries fast, so expect more characteristic splits to occur. This was harvested and the bark was stripped with a drawknife so it has the hand-hewn looks and streaks of cambium. This is a raw material ready to be customized. (ufws338)
