This knock-down staff has a joint in the middle so it'll ship for a lot less. It also requires a 9" x 9" girth box (by 40" long) which means the root mass is larger than my normal 8" x 8". It is a heavy birch staff with "balls", which are large masses where root nodes were preparing to spread from. It stands 5'-10 and a half inches tall and it weighs 5#1ozs currently. The shaft is relatively dry but the head will take more time to "season". This is a large headed staff but the shaft is about my normal size, 1-1/4"in diameter at the bottom and about 2-1/4" at the top. It does have a few three sided "cradles" that would secure a sphere or artifact relatively well, even maybe a 5" sphere but I didn't have one on hand to try. It was harvested and stripped with a drawknife so it has an array of flat facets, cambium streaks and tooling marks. The knock-down joint was cut after it dried down and nothing else has been done to it. This is a raw material and the hardware for the joint is included.(ufws337)
