Here is almost a bird foot staff. It is a simple birch staff with quite a curve...it might be a good candidate to hang a lantern on. It stands just shy of 6' tall and the shaft varies in diameter from 1-1/8" up to 1-3/4". It was dug up and the bark had to be removed with a drawknife, hence there are a lot of subtle facets. I often will stain and seal a piece like this and then lightly sand it to break through the stain on the edges of the facets. Then I clear coat it again. It gives it a nice distressed appearance as if it was used for years...but obviously you can finish it as you see fit. It weighs 3# currently, have fun with it. (ufws305)
