This is a real thick Poplar root staff. It stands 71" tall when assembled and the shaft varies in diameter from 1-1/2" up to 2". It was harvested and the bark was stripped with a pruning knife as well as a drawknife so there are some tooling marks and facets present. This poplar, like most of the overcrowded saplings here, was starting to die. You'll notice there is a dark root area that runs up into the shaft as well as a dark small root. They are structural but eventually it would have spread to the entire tree. These area will probably stain real dak for so nice color contrast. I added a knock-down joint using heavier brown furniture connectors (included) so it can ship for less in a 40" long box. Only the last two pics are updated to show the joint. It weighs 3# and yes, it is a raw material ready to be customized for the next event. (ufws301)
