Here is a nice robust Black Cherry cane blank. It is currently 37-1/2" tall and weighs 1#8ozs. The shaft ranges in diameter from 1-1/4" up to 1-1/2" and the oversized grip has an oblong profile about 1-1/2" wide by 2" high. The grip is curved to the side a little and it has a few knots and drying splits, but it is meaty enough to carve a figure out of. The bottom of the shaft has a few drying splits as well, but as normal they stop at the the pith and just run out one radius line. This is a raw material, there is no rubber tip included. It was harvested and the bark was stripped with a drawknife which leaves subtle facets and streaks of cambium behind. (uc49)
