This is a birch root staff with a curved back head. It stands 71" tall and the shaft ranges in diameter from 1" up to 2". The current weight is 2#11ozs. This one was growing in a more arid area so a drawknife had to be used to strip the bark. The process leaves an array of subtle facets and streaks of cambium, a nice look to start customizing. The root mass is relatively flat on top compared to many and the roots take up an area about 6" x 8" when viewed from above. With the curve it needs my normal 72" x 8" x 8" box to ship, so there is a lot of space to include a second one (if ordered) for the single shipping cost.(ufws288)
