This birch root staff shows how different they can appear in different soil. The roots on this one take up about the top twelve inches, with one root reversing direction. It has a relatively small shaft with a dogleg and it ranges in diameter from 3/4" to 2" but it still stands 71" tall. It does have a few of the birch sharp root nodes as well. Currently it weighs 2#9ozs. It was harvested and the bark was stripped to start the drying process...if not birch bark is so watertight that they rot in their own skin. Like most all of staffs it ships in a 72" x 8" x 8" box which means the postage is high, but I can usually fit a couple in the box and refund the additional shipping charges if you have friends who want to go in on an order.
