Here is a cool uncommon one. It has a knock down joint so it can be shipped in a 49" x 9" x 9" box. It is a birch specimen with a large mass of sharp root nodes that roughly occupy a 4" spherical space. The sharp root nodes resemble the old mace weapon, just with roots coming out. The long tap root out the top is about 10" tall. The staff itself stands about 6'- 9" tall, and the curved shaft ranges in diameter from 1-1/4" up to about 2". The bark was stripped primarily with a drawknife except where the lump is...that was painstakingly picked clean with a knife to preserve the points. Hence the shaft has some subtle facets as well as some cambium left behind. The knock-down joint was added to enable shipping. The top of the joint is about 4' off the ground, my thought is you can wrap it with a leather grip or whatnot to conceal it if it is bothersome. The joint is held together with two barrel fasteners (included) but due to the size and mass of staff I would recommend spreading some epoxy (not included) on the faces before reassembly. Currently it is a little fresh and wet, but I wanted to get it out there for all of the upcoming events. It weighs 4#2 ozs but it will lose some more weight as it dries. A few drying splits may open up as well, wood is unpredictable. (ufws274)
