Here is a birch staff with a small root ball. These are always interesting, leave it or shape it. The staff is relatively straight and it stands 71-1/2" tall. The shaft ranges in diameter from 1-1/4" up to 1-1/2". The irregular "ball" is roughly 3"x 3-1/2", and the simple four root structure fits in an 8" x 8" girth box. Currently it weighs 3#9oz. It was harvested, stripped with a drawknife and put up to dry...do with it as you please.(ufws 270)
