This is a heavy Red Maple staff with a cool hollow. It stands a half-inch shy of six feet and the roots occupy an 8" x 8" box. Currently it weighs 5#2ozs, it will lose some more moisture weight as it isn't fully seasoned. The shaft varies in diameter from 1-1/2" up to 2" plus. It is a large, tormented specimen that was harvested, stripped with a drawknife and left to dry. It is a raw material for your imagination. It may develop a few splits as it dries, which is normal.
