This staff has a knock-down joint right in the middle so it can ship more reasonably in a 40" x 8" x 8" box. The hardware to join it together is included, and if you want to make it permanent you can use your own glue in addition to the barrel connectors. The staff is a birch specimen that stands 70-1/2" tall when assembled. The shaft is somewhat oval, the bottom starts at 1-1/4" in diameter and up near the roots it is an oval about 1-1/2" x 2". The root mass is primarily offset in one direction. Like the other staffs it was dug and the bark was stripped with a drawknife, which leaves large facets that highlight well. It was then thoroughly seasoned and the scarf joint was cut. It weighs 2#13ozs. (ufws260)
