Here is a cool, natural "sledgehammer" perfect to complete a costume. It is a chunk of Red Maple tree trunk with the branch. It has nice robust dimensions; the head is about 4" in diameter and 9" long. The handle is about 28" long and varies in diameter from 1-1/4" to 1-1/2". Overall it stands about 32-1/2" tall. The bark was stripped with a drawknife and one side of the head was reduced to make it more symmetrical. The handle has a hole for a leather thong or the like. It has been air drying awhile now and it has a lot of the natural "checks" visible in the end grain. These splits might get larger as it fully dries but they only run from the pith to the outside (aka heart checks), not through the trunk. The whole thing has been rough-sanded and subtle drawknife facets are visible. As of 9/24/24 it weighs 4# 2ozs. It is ready to be customized as you will.
