This is a really thick birch staff. It is just shy of 6' tall and the meaty shaft is 1-1/2" to 2-1/4" in diameter with a rotten patch where it was girdled. It was cut, peeled, dried and weighs 4#3.1oz. This one has a really robust root as you can see in the one pic with my finger for scale. The rotten girdled area will be a little softer tan the rest of the staff, but that is how the tree deals with an injury. Like the other staffs here this was only stripped of bark with a drawknife, how you finish it is on you. (ufws226)
