Here is a Balsam Fir Staff that is 6'-2-1/2" tall and the roots fit in a 6"by 6" box, hence shipping will be less expensive in comparison to the normal 8" by 8" box. The shaft ranges from small 1" to 1-3/4" in diameter and it only weighs 2#1 oz. It might lose a bit more moisture weight but it is dry enough to apply your finish. (ufws196)
