Here is a simple birch staff with a root ball. It stands 71-3/8" tall and the shaft varies from 1-1/4" to 2" in diameter. The roots on this one occupy a cubic volume of 8". This one does have a few pimple like root nodes on the small ball, but they are not as pointy and sharp as the larger staffs. This does have a little curve at the base of the roots. Currently (8/5/21)it weighs 3# 4ozs. and it was harvested and stripped a few weeks ago. It still fresh and hence it shouldn't be sealed until it loses more moisture content.(ufws102) Update: it is well seasoned
