Can I make changes as we go along?

We strongly discourage them, and we penalize them with preset change order fees.  This may seem a little strict, but from a construction point of view a change typically costs a lot of labor and materials.  The entire reason you had a blue print drawn up was to have a picture of what you want.  The contract is based on the blue prints as well as a list of material specs to be used.  You agree to the contract before you sign it.

Under special circumstances when we are notified far in advance we may waive the change order fee, but typically we are not informed in time.  For example, we order windows well before they are needed and we install them after a window is framed.  If you see the window size and you ask to have it changed after the fact, not only do we have to modify the framing but we have to return a window and get a replacement.  That means we have labor costs, material costs, a restocking fee and a ruined schedule.  Maybe even lost work.  Many changes may not even be possible from a structural standpoint.

So please exercise foresight when decide on a project.
